My Vitamins and Supplements

I know in the past I’ve blogged about vitamins and supplements. But I’ve never talked about the vitamins and supplements I take. So this is what I try to pump into my body on a daily basis:

In the A.M.

1 – Women’s One-a-Day Multi-vitamin
1 – Vitamin C Pill
1 – Iron Pill
1 – B12 Pill
1 – Fish Oil w/Omega 3 Pill

In the P.M. (if I’m lucky)
1 – Fish Oil w/Omega 3 Pill

Okay, so now you’re probably wondering why? Especially since I take a multi-vitamin. Did you know that if you eat the right foods with the proper amount of nutrients that you don’t have to take a multi-vitamin? But how many of us have the time to actually do that? I know I don’t.  As you know or may not know, vitamin C gives your immune system a boost, even though I take the multi-vitamin I know I can use extra.  I’m not a big O.J. person and unless fruit is on sale I don't purchase a lot of it, this would be a more natural way to get extra vitamin C, so I take a supplement instead.

The Iron pill….I’m a little bit of anemic. I have the hardest time donating blood (UGH! ). And most females should know, when mother nature hits we all need that added Iron. There are foods that will give you extra iron, but I take the supplement as well because I know I need a little extra due to other things working against me.

Vitamin B12…I have a scalp condition called Seborrhea Dermatitis (similar to Psoriasis)…in simple terms my scalp gets very dry, itchy, scaly and flaky.  After researching for years I’ve read that it could be the cause of a vitamin B deficiency. Therefore I supplement to see if it will help. If B12 fails I will try B6 next.

Fish Oil w/Omega 3…This should be taken with a meal, it is suppose to help with burning fat and the Omega-3 fatty acids are suppose to help the heart, brain, joints, maintain a healthy cholesterol level and immune system. Please note I said suppose to help…none of this has been evaluated by the FDA. But everything I take can be found in foods, so I’m okay with the FDA not evaluating…but that’s my personal decision and I highly suggest before you take anything you should consult your physician and do research, especially if you have other health issues. I don’t have any health issue therefore I’m usually pretty open to take whatever within reason if I think it will benefit me.

Until next time...healthy and happy eating!
