Frozen Dinners

Okay, so how many of you eat frozen dinners aka “TV Dinners” aka “death in a box”?

I’ll be honest, I use to swear by those things when I started losing weight, they are low in calories and offer portion control, which is what I was looking for. As I became more knowledgeable I eventually realized that a frozen dinner is one of the worst things you could put in your body! Anyone who personally knows me can tell you I will turn down most unhealthy foods (yes most! I’m not perfect! LOL!). I can read the nutritional value of something and it will literally make me “mentally” nauseous. What’s “mentally nauseous” you ask? Reading how unhealthy a food is will make me feel sick, I’m not really sick it’s more of a mental thing. It doesn’t happen all the time, but if you pay attention to what’s in food as much as I do it may happen to you as well. The reason I think of frozen dinners as death in a box is because of the preservatives! Just look at the amount of sodium (YUCK!) I hate salt! BTW…a good alternative to seasoning salt is Mrs. Dash (no salt)! I LOVE IT!

Try to limit your intake of frozen dinners and opt for healthier home cook meals. If you feel pressed for time cook enough food for the week, freeze it, and that way when you get home from a long day you can heat up your healthy home cooked meal! :D Oh one more thing about frozen meals, although they do offer portion control, if you find yourself 30 minutes later hungry enough to eat a #1 off of the McDonald's menu (don’t act like you don’t know what the #1 is the BIG MAC MEAL! LOL!), then you should definitely opt for a home cook meal, that way you can eat more versus ending up with junk food to fill you up.
