The Stairs

This morning I went to the deli on the first floor in the building I work in and decided I would take the stairs back up to my office on the 7th floor.  My goodness!  When I got to seven I was dying!  Now this is coming from someone that works out at least 5 days a week doing a good amount of cardio and weights.  Stairs are the ultimate cardio machine and they’re free to use.  I will definitely incorporate stairs in my workout routine because that experience made me feel that I was out of shape.  I’m not out of shape but my body has become accustom to a certain type of exercise.

Now to give you an idea of the amount of staircases and stairs, you have to walk two flights of stairs in order to get to a floor (so from 1 to 7 there are 12 staircases and approx 150-180 stairs, I will count the stairs later today or tomorrow morning because I will definitely take the stairs again!).

This afternoon at 3pm on the dot I walked the stairs again from the 7th floor to the 1st floor and back to time myself, I did a slow jog down and did a moderate paced walk back up.  When I sat down at my desk it was 3:03pm.  I was proud of myself, 3 minutes!  Although I was winded (no where near as winded as this morning), it was easier this time because I knew what to expect.  PLUS when you do sometime again and again it should become easier every time.  I can’t wait to get my clients started, of course I won’t kill them with stairs in the beginning, but they will definitely get the opportunity to embrace that free ultimate cardio.

OOOOOHHHHH, I just got an idea, lol!  I will make up a stairs cheer to keep my clients motivated OR just get some up beat music.  Stairs and cheering may make everyone, including myself, pass out!  LOL!
